I have the 8". Good kit. Average to poor rests.

Probably out of the same factory as everyone else's.

Mine was a horrible piece of fragile rubbish. The flexible lamp fell off, the "rests" were laughable and the steps on the shaft to locate the wheels were grossly misshaped giving major wheel wobble; chucked it in the skip.

The "Allwin" model as sold by Ketan at Arc Eurotrade is much nicer , a genuine working tool, and not much more money.

I have the Screwfix 8" machine. As above poor rests and needs careful fitting of wheels to prevent wobble so likely from the same manufacture. This replaced a many years old Aldi machine that was really good for the money.

I think I have a new one somewhere – bought at a car boot sale for little money (most certainly less than a tenner). Not used and still in its box.

I use a couple (150 and 200mm) bought at farm sales – far better – and the decent rests came off the grinder bought at a farm sale about 30 years ago (expired eventually with a start winding problem but not worth the time to check it out).

Tempting fate, I've had mine since I was 18 now 52. Abused it, cleaned it a few times. Massively improved by the addition of the Harold Hall grinding rest. I have changed a couple of grinding wheels though, as mentioned balance of wheels is vital,

I have one of the Warco Rumanian grinders from 20 years back (plus). It is an excellent grinder, very smooth and takes forever to stop. Mickey Mouse rests and eye shields.
