Steam and hydraulic tests

I could call over the local club but someone on here may have the answer.

Is there a difference between commercial and club tests?

Also if a loco comes with a 10 year commercial certificate does it need a hydraulic test at the next steam test?

Hello Bob

A Club Boiler Inspector can choose to accept an initial 2x WP hydraulic shell test on a bare boiler by a commercial builder. (He may not and may insist on repeating it). He will then need to perform a 1,5x WP test on the boiler system as a whole, which is valid for 4 years. A steam test is also necessary before you can run it under Club insurance; steam tests are valid for 1 year.

"We issue a commercial test certificate – steam test has validity for 14 months, hydraulic for 10 years. An engine would next need to be tested after 14 months, however if it's tested at a club, it would require a hydraulic test at that point – clubs aren't allowed to mix commercial hydraulic tests with their own steam tests – which would be valid for four years."

If clubs are not allowed to mix then does it follow it will need both hydraulic and steam tests at the club.
