Hi folks,

I'm looking for a piece of copper sheet, ideally 310mm in diameter but in reality I think 310mm square will be easier to come by! I have a 12" guillotine which should handle upto to 2mm in copper (maybe).

Does anyone have anything left over circa 0.7 to 1.5mm ish?

It will become a heat spreader between the Onyx heater and the borosilicate glass build plate on my 3D printer. Hopefully it will even out the temperatures and reduce warping when making nylon or ABS parts.

I'm in Doncaster if anyone is local enough for me to collect that would be ideal.

I'm happy to pay or make a charitable donation.

Martin, why would you use aluminum, I'm a novice on the 3d printing front so I don't know if I'm walking in to a disaster!?

Copper stood out to me for various reasons,

1. lower thermal expansion,
2. thin enough to guillotine with my cheap 3in1 machine while still being effective as a spreader
3. should be thin enough to avoid changing the clamps that hold the pyrex to the heater plate

I could use aluminium easily so please let me know if you can.

I have found a supplier that can do a 300mm square of 0.9mm copper for £11 including VAT and delivery (C101) so I'll go with that unless anyone has some left overs that they'd like to turn in to cash or a charitable donation. (unless Martin/someone knows of a reason not to, I could be missing the bigger picture here )
