Does anyone know the dates for Harrogate Exhibition 2016?

Is it going ahead or been scrapped like the Model Engineer one?

I emailed Diane sometime ago and she replied that when MTM know, they will announce it. I emailed Lou Rex, as I thought he was the "engine driver", in July and again this week and so far apparently ignored.

2 xbns. down the pan, any more?

From discussions on the Sweet-Pea Yahoo group its the 20/21/22 May 2016 … but it is at DONCASTER Racecourse and not in Harrogate

Why is the venue being changed? Have they,Harrogate Show ground people. priced them selves out again, like they did with the Kit Kar show a few years ago. If it is because of this, it makes you wonder what qualification these people who are in charge have,

I don't think is was the 'Show Ground' people pricing themselves out ….. I don't think the hall was available this year due to major redevelopments on the site. *They will be opening a new refurbished 'Hall 1' at some point ….. then I suspect the prices will go up or impose restrictions on what people can do.

                Alan R,

What qualifications do these people have you ask?

Frankly it is up to the Showground owners to charge what they want to charge. If they set their fees and it results in less use, that is their problem, I am sure however that they wish to optimise its use.. The showground does not exist for the Model Engineer trade and supporters.

'Tis the way of the world. sad

Living nearby, maybe I can settle this point.

The Harrogate ground is in the throes of rebuilding the exhibitition halls, it is a major project which was only started after the Agricultural Show for this year was over.

It is unlikely to be complete before May next year, hence the bye for 2016.

It is a bit early don't you think, to talk of price increases, organisors/venues pricing themselves out of business, and other aspects of a forthcoming doom.

For "discussions on other sites " do we mean rumours?

From memory, as an exhibitor, I don't recall getting info about Harrogate until the new year when we were able to book space.

Relax! All will be revealed in due time. It is 8 months away. Rather like having a suspicion that a baby may be on the way!

CuP have as great an interest as anybody. If it takes place at Harrogate, they will be there. If it is anywhere else, they will be there.

It is you – the model engineer, who decide on CuPs' attendance at any exhibition and not the organisor. Exhibitions are their opportunities to engage face to face with you. Show you, let you feel, let you see, let you smell the roses etc.

We look forward to meeting you all – wherever it is!

The exhibition is moving to Doncaster Racecourse next year and it is due to the hike in fees imposed by Harrogate Showground.

Besides all the rumours about why I'd like to take an opportunity to wish Lou and Gavin Rex and the rest of the Northern Show crowd the best with their new venture.

They put an immense amount of work into organising this show which in my opinion is the best one in the UK calendar. Whether it will be based at Doncaster or elsewhere, rest assured these folk will do their best to put on a brilliant show.

I liked the venue at Harrogate, it had presence and an atmosphere that many shows cannot achieve but I feel this is more to do with the show than venue.

I will not miss the Stalag Rex hostel but it was cheap and they did supply shovels for the escape tunnels. wink

Am I right in thinking that I've heard that there is to be a show in Manchester next year ?

                              Hi All,

Thank you all for your help.

AA Routeplanner says Harrogate to Doncaster = 55.6miles/up to 1hour10mins. So, if I go. will save 111 miles return. And hotel is cheaper! Cant be bad,

                              Thank you all again,

                              John
