It's worth checking SurplusShed in the USA

They have an amazing range of stuff; some at ridiculously low prices.

Thanks for the suggestion but they don't appear to have bevel gears, looks a good source for direct drive gears though.

Very valid points that you've made but I'm not that concerned if I have to go abroad for the gears, although I would prefer a UK source.
