I'm hoping somebody can throw some light onto what has happened to the forward and backward motion on the table of my machine.

I was milling by hand a slot forward and all of a sudden I lost forward feed, it sometimes grips the thread when I try reversing it.

I removed the handle along with the screw thread, no damage to it!

Its difficult to see inside the table as to whats going on in there, but I can see midway a threaded bracket ,mounted to the table which the drive screw goes through.

I'm guessing its this that has worn out, does anybody know if this is a threaded sleeve or part of the table casting?

I don't want to start taking the table apart until I have some knowledge as to whats happened and just to how to go about fixing it.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

      Thank you

Peter…Now you've got the screw out it shouldn't be too difficult to have a peek. The nut may be nearer one end than the other? Establish this and take that end bracket off the end of the table and slide the table out of the way. You might not have to entirely remove the table. Has the nut just come loose ? Have you got power feed, in which case the nut will possibly have a gear on,which may have suffered damage or wear to the teeth? You've got to get in there at some point.

Hi, thank you for your help. from what I can see peeking through the hole where the hand drive goes through, I can only see what looks like a hole in the casting of the table. this has a thread through it. there doesn't seem to be any locking nuts, or locking sleeves present no bits have dropped off or loose parts, most odd!

As and when I have a bit more time I will have to take the end plate off to get a better look, I'm just not looking forward to having to dismantle the auxiliaries

I have a small camera I think I will take a few shots from underneath, might give me a better idea of the layout.

Does anybody know if I can get hold of blueprints of the senior (junior model)

              Thank you Peter

                Hello Peter,

I've only just found your query, I tend to run a little behind other people with these posts.

Handbooks are available; get in touch with Tony Griffiths at http://www.lathes.co.uk his email address is

[email protected] I've found him very helpful in the past

I think you will be able to sort yourself out with the drawings that are part of the manual

                Kind regards

                Brian Wood
