Have any of you bought these from the auction site? They are very much cheaper than anywhere else so I’m wondering If they are any good.

Dont know about DCGT but I bought some DCMT0702 EM YB205 which appear similar and are very good on most things including brass and steel and cost £3.28 for 10 in P&P.

The only inserts I have bought at those sort of prices turned out to only be good for shaping butter.

I use 3 different types of **GT inserts, i have 8 boxes of 10 inserts per box that i buy from Banggood for around £8 + free shipping for a box of 10 inserts. I find these inserts very good indeed & would never go back to paying for say 1 or 2 inserts for the same money that i get 10 good inserts for from Banggood. I also get various types of **MT inserts from this same supplier for under £4 for box of 10 inserts.

If you're a gambling man it doesn't hurt to try them, just check the photos for edge quality. I've seen some that look distinctly lumpy

                  Hi Vic

I have used several vendors and found inserts were OK, now using 1 supplier only for DCGT070202 labelled KORLOY and found these to be excellent. Cost is about £10 per 10 inc delivery.
I should add I also use inserts from Mitsubishi and Sumitomo so I am aware of what to expect from a quality insert.

This is not to say all vendors are supplying the same quality but if you haven't tried them keep an open mind.

I have a good supply of the Chinese inserts intended for aluminium, they are excellent value for money. They can also be used on steel and stainless steel for very fine cutting where ordinary inserts would just rub. You can get away with cuts of 0.0005" or even less on steel. They are so cheap that destroying the edge doesn't break the bank. If your lathe is big enough to use WNMG 06, then you get 6 edges per insert, otherwise it is usually 2.

Would that be EBAY then Vic. Sorry but I find it quicker to type EBAY than " the auction site" Most cheaper tips will be OK up to a point. I find the tips from Banggood to be good. They seem to last pretty well and don't chip easily if you push them a bit. Check out Doubleboosts Banggood reviews on YouTube.

                      regards

The WNMG 06 inserts will fit holders down to 12mm square.

With the right holder(s) you can use all 4 corners of a CC** insert too.

Dead right about the special holders for the unused corners. They have their limitations however, you cannot cut up to a face, that is why I have never bought any. I have one holder for the square inserts which I only use for 45 degree chanfering.

The only WNMG 06 inserts on sale at the moment on ebay suitable for aluminium are Iscar ones, not expensive for first quality, but not in the cheap sector.
