hi Guys I an looking for a winter workshop project I would like to do a small loco like a Tich or something small also without castings.

as I have built lots of stationery engines I need a change also as I am early retired from work and now disabled as well this sucks as i can only t stand in the workshop for short time the budget will be tight i have to look after the penny's

any suggestion please

Kevin….there are three small locos from the Gauge 1 stable…….an 0-6-0 4F tender loco, a handsome 4-4-0 SR D Class tender loco and a tank engine called Armig. They are all straightforward building and I think I am correct in saying that no castings are required. Plans and building instructions are cheap. Have a look at the Gauge 1 Model Railway Association site…….just Google "G1MRA.".

Perhaps you may find the 3 sheet set of plans for a G1 Diana I presently have for sale on an auction site ( item reference 200980706299 ) of passing interest.

hi Trevor & Mick thanks for that it looks good have watched the item does it need any special castings as it is my preference not to have them, perhaps for the wheels.

The reason is  I have lots of brass, cast iron & tool steel off cuts as my son is a toolmaker I will also look at the gauge 1 option need to research this and the availability of drawing.

Kevin,

Just had a look at the plans, and believe the cylinders may originally have been castings, but since they are only 1 1/4" long , they would be easy to make from solid or to fabricate. Assume the wheels were the only other castings. Hope this helps.
