Although there does not seem to be much interest here on building early IC engines, I thought some members may like to see what can be done with old engravings and AI. None of these engines seem to have survived if they even existed in the first place but it is good to see the AI generated renderings of what they may have looked like. All image sfrom the Pre 1900 Gas Engines Facebook group. Maybe I will have to give it a try with the c1895 engine that I am working on at the moment.

That’s pretty impressive, it has just made a small mistake on the valve operating mechanism on the last engine.
I cannot decide what to think about AI at the moment, most of what is on the internet is total rubbish, but stuff like this makes me think it might have some uses in our hobby.

Those images are certainly impressive.  My initial thoughts are that they present an alternative reality.  As mentioned by Phil, there are some small mistakes where the original image has been misinterpreted by AI .  They also put the machines in an imaginary context which may mislead future researchers and model makers as to the true history and function of the subjects.  Does this matter? I dunno.

There is a rather modern looking lathe in the background of the third engine. Maybe AI has not learnt about line shafts and belts, yet.

It’s the plastic bottle in the bucket in the last photo that looks wrong to me.

But it’s a picture of an old engine waiting to be installed in a museum setting, surely 😉
