Couple of what is it?
This looks familiar but can't make it out. The bit on the end of the thread is slightly curved. Looks like it would grip a 1/4 in bar but not tightly as the wheel doesn't have much to push against.. Could it be smoething for getting tyres onto rims?

size is about 2 inches across the V.

Number 2 photo a bit cluttered but it is clamped onto a bit of wood in the vice instead of a thin bench. There is a lever on the front to clamp the thin horizontal jaws together.

I think the brake adjuster used to called "a squirrel". Might well be wrong.

In my younger days working on cars with cable brakes we called them butterflies, unfortunately they are now illegal to use them on vintage cars.

Hello Brian, the only way that you can be sure is to have your MG tested or speak to an M.O.T tester, we accepted them in my day as a tester.

Hi Brian, yes adjusters are allowed. MOT testing guide section 5.3 mechanical brake components. Information section “It is acceptable to fit cable expanders to reduce maladjustment.” Although it doesn’t mention in the current guide I’m pretty sure that the older guide used to say “no more than one adjuster fitted per cable”
