Slow Again?

Here, in France, I have just checked and one page on the site took 75 seconds to load with my adblocker off.  The same page took less than a second to load with the adblocker on.

I suggest using an adblocker ( I can recommend uBlock Origin) until it is sorted.

It seems very variable.

The other evening I became so fed up with grainy photos of buses and motobikes I turned it off about the 6th. However it opened without that rigmarole when I tried again a bit later.

Other than that, it is never ever so rapid. From clicking on this thread’s link to it opening was about three seconds but it is often much slower.

A very mixed bag for me too. It’s never fast, but mostly ok. Occasionally though it’s woefully slow.

Should be OK now, this from Andy.

It appears to have been an issue with our scootering forum that’s on the same site as Model Boats, and the current ad server that had a knock on effect to the other sites, this should be resolved now.

 

Model Engineer will be moving from our old shared ad server in the next week or 2, over to our supported Google Ad Manager, which will reduce these issues with our older server.

Maybe my log on times are different than others, and I’m just about computer illiterate. But fwiw, I’m using Firefox as my browser with it’s pop up blocker activated, and I’ve seen no slowing on this website at all.

Not of course related to website speed. But there is an issue with the upper left hand back button on only this website though. Sometimes it takes 3-4 tries before it will work. And that’s been going on for at least a few months.

Hi Pete, I’ve noticed the back button problem, and I have to get my cursor arrow point exactly on the button arrow point for it to work, it never used to be like that. But the other day the site just froze, part way through loading, but it is very often slow in general.

As per the quoted message from Andy. The problem was with an Ad server so if blocking ads you would have been unlikely to see a problem. Confirmed by the post on the previous page of the problem not being there when an ad blocker was turned on.

Are you talking about the browser back buttom top left? if so and you are using it to get back to the latest replies list then that has always been slow. Better after reading the last post to scroll down below the reply box and click the blue “latest replies” box again.

Yeah Nick mine does exactly the same as yours does. Yet every so often it works just fine.
