      All,

I've got a small Sandvik boring bar, but the Torx driver for the insert has gone AWOL.

There are some on EBay at stupid prices, but I can't identify the Torx Plus size of the driver required.

The bar is marked with the screw part number 5513 020-44, and the driver number 5680 051-01

The bit of the screw that's visible seems to be about 2mm in diameter, but it's impossible to measure accurately.

I've got a driver for a slightly larger size, and the point-point distance on that is 1.95mm. Presumably it's the next size down but I'm not familiar with Torx Plus.

Any ideas what size driver I'd need for this – and a decent make that's not made out of cheese?

      Thanks.

Put the Sandvik part number into Google and you find lots of information on the item, including many photos which tell you it is a 6 IP (igloo postman) Torx plus item. Again, Mr Google will give you many other alternative sources for 6IP torx plus.

Thanks – I found it on the Sandvik website earlier, but I was looking for a “T” designation rather than IP.

            Cheers.

              IP = Internal Plus

                If this is any help

                A Sumitomo screw (Code BTFX02505N or BFTX02506N ) will be a 2.5 x 0.45 thread, with a head diameter of 3.45 mm and possibly take a TRX8 Torx wrench.

The wrench is likely to set you back about £10, and a screw about £4.50.

                Howard

I’ve bought a dozen M2.5 screws with a driver for about £3 on the auction site. The better ones seem to be made in Taiwan.

                    Thanks all, it's M2 not M2.5

I was looking at my 25mm Sandvik boring bar which takes TCMT 110204 and uses 2.5 mm screws with a torx 7 wrench. I was going to suggest 2mm with a T6 wrench but I was too slow.

                        So a T6 wrench fits a 6IP screw head?

M2 Torx Are easily lost so its worth getting some spares.
