Getting rather ahead of myself on the building of a Quorn T&C grinder, I am trying to get the motor apart. I need to do so to carry out the standard build procedures of lopping the feet off the end covers, tapping the blank mounting holes in the front end cover, and shortening the spindle.
It is a Parvalux SD 13 as supplied by Model Engineering Services with the kit (about 20 years ago).
It was mostly quite straightforward, but the spindle and rotor won’t come out of the front end bearing housing. There seems to be a single completely inaccessible phillips head screw which may be holding the bearing into the housing.
I have set the housing up on wooden blocks and clouted the shaft end not quite hard enough to brinell the bearing. It does not want to budge.
Ideas?
