So this could be a bit embarrassing, I was looking for a book on traction engine design and construction by Edward George, I did not realise this author was the very same Edward George who was a member at our club and taught night classes for model engineering in Cambridge, it turns out that this traction engine made several ongoing appearances at the night class as did the person rebuilding it, Edward remembered the engine but he did ask me was there a second boiler that had been started but was abandoned because of the presence of soft solder, the very same boiler above, His understanding was that this traction engine was of Bassett Lowke design, he even said he thinks it had cast wheels which it does. Providing the boiler passes the boiler test tomorrow I will then arrange to take this to him soon for identification.
