I am trying to program my VFD to operate the start and stop buttons on the front of my machines instead of the buttons on the VFD itself which is working the machines OK.

I have 3 wires from the start stop buttons connected to the programmable imputes one wire from start button to X1 one wire from the stop button to X2 and one wire connected to both buttons to COM.

X1 is programmed to start and X2 for 3 wire running and the result is that I have to hold in the start button to get the machine running but it stops when I release it.

How can I get it to run continuously when I press the start button momentarily and stop buttons?

        Hi,
From the little bit of the manual you show it may be that you have to set function F07.11
What make and model is the VFD.

        Robert.

The function F07.11 is already preset and allows the start button when pressed to run the machine but when I take my finger off the machine stops.

I would like it to keep running as when using the stop start buttons on the VFD.

Before I had a Omron JX VFD made in Japan but it stopped working and it did allow me to use the start stop buttons on the machine and I have now replaced it with one made in China name Risegun REGU105507

What are parameters F07.1 and F07.2 set to? There appears to be a difference between parameter values 1 and 4 for “forward” and “forward jog”. Ditto values 2 and 5 for reverse. However, we also need to know the possible values and meanings for F07.11 and what it is “preset” to at the moment.

I presume that your control panel switches are momentary-action and not latching? Shouldn’t be a problem but only if the VFD parameters are set to match! I have an ABB VFD on my lathe which works fine with momentary-action switches but only once I had figured out how to set it up. Should be OK with your VFD as well – from what we can see, it does have a reasonable set of parameter options.

Aren’t the f07 terminals for a pendant control?

I can’t locate a manual for that VFD online so can’t assist any further.

3 wire operation typically expects the STOP switch to be of the normally closed variety (or think of it as a run enable), so X2 likely need to be connected to common to allow X1 to operate.  BUT that is an assumption on my part, based on experience with other brands (It could be completely wrong).

Poor to useless manuals seem to be the biggest drawback with some of these lower cost VFDs.

More mainstream brands tend to include some wiring/settings examples to cover common applications.

To help we need to read the manual and we can’t see Andrew’s printed copy!   Have to find the manual on the web.  The VFD is an MS500-2S, much rebranded.  Risegun, Hyuduo and Dewin all seem to be box-shifters.

Got a major computer problem this morning so I can’t help, but I suggest searching on MS500-2S.  Or, with luck, someone on here has one working and will explain. The answer is probably simple…

I have a teco VFD and could not find a setting for it to work with momentry action push buttons. I just added a small relay to do the latching. My inverter has a low current 12 volt output which was enough to supply power for the relay. Below is the schematic of my remote control but it is more complex than you require.

For interest,Teco 510 vfd 3-wire control details are on p7-3 of this on-line manual.

No real help to the OP though.
