Hi there,

Just introducing myself to everyone on here. I used to belong to a model boat club in Surrey. One class of boats that were very popular was the Kyosho Fairwind. I was just wondering if people sail/race these? I found it to be a very relaxing, cheap and fun hobby, better than fishing imho! Sometimes the two did overlap somewhat.

Be good to hear from anyone as ive just rerigged mine and would like to sail. I live in Exeter.

My dad used to take me sailing on a local pond as a kid with a medium sized indestructible solid wooden yacht

I must confess I miss that boat because those were nice memories

I say indestructible because the local power boat boys bounced off it a few times and always lost

Follow Jason's link. I am doing a reconstruction of a 50 year old model Galileo. You will find the forum very slow in comparison to this one but nonetheless useful for information. See you over there.

Hi Stuart,

Hope you can help!! My kids and I have just been given a Fairwind model yacht. Could you tell me what actuator, controller you used to drive the rudder and sail.

Bit of a novice sorry.
