I recently had a holiday in Bratislava. While there , we visited a clock museum where there were a number of clocks with the pendulum over the dial face. Not come across this before.

What sort of escapement David?

Its a verge escapement with a so called “kuhschwanzpendel” (cow tail pendulum), common in middle Europa. Niko.

I’m glad you answered that Nico, I had a look behind the clock and all of the mechanism was encased in a brass cylinder about 4″ diameter and 3″deep so I couldn’t see anything.
