HI, i have just beeb given a complete boiler to fit a 2 “clayton steam wagon, the boiler came with all the fittings but none of these are attached to the boiler. I have no intentions of building the wagon but would like to know if the boiler could be used as a free standing unit , to supply steam for some small stationary engines i have. regards derek gibson.

It could be used as a stand alone boiler but you may be better off selling it on and putting the money towards a new vertical test boiler that will be a bit easier to fire.

If you do decide to keep it then do a hydro test on it first to twice working pressure to see if its sound before spending any more time on it.
