Raglan mill spindle removal

HI there, after recently purchasing my Raglan, a few measurements later i found a run out of 5 thou on the spindle so i decided to remove and investigate the spindle,

So it looks to me like i should be able to do it without removing the motor and all variable speed gubbins, i have removed all parts from top and bottom of spindle and then there is a little grub screw in the top half of the pulley on the spindle which i have undone,

i’m getting about 3/8 of movement vertically but thats about it,

What am i missing?
