Are we talking crack detection? Or is it layout fluid? in which case there is some on ebay.

Have a feeling there is something that does not pass safety regs in UK so the small bottles are not available here just the larger ones and why you can't select the small ones on W&W site

            Brian, it's layout fluid

Weird. I got some blue in small bottle, and could have ordered red, off Amazon Aug 2020 but can't get it now!

That is weird indeed! I have been using white paint marker pens for darker metals like cast iron and black mild steel, but now after seeing this post I want some red Dykem and now I can't get it! Last time I bought a pot of blue Dykem was from RDG at a Model Engineering Show a few years ago. Now every supplier is out of stock! RDG don't stock it either. What's going on???

                      Probably Brexit.

Plus the VAT change and Covid.. Whatever the cause, UK imports and exports both took a beating in January, link to official figures. (19% drop in exports, and a 21% drop in imports.) Not clear if the disappointing figures are temporary or not. February's results aren't available yet, and the economic situation remains unstable.

                      sad

Now we have left EU, the UK doesn't have a trade deal with the USA! For the time being, trade with the US has become more expensive and complicated, because we are no longer part of the EU trade bloc.

Perhaps the biggest hit to imports and exports is simply due to a large complex system changing: for US trade, it's now necessary for British Exporters to understand and abide by the USA Harmonised Tariff System as applied to non-favoured nations. Anyone who fancies a headache can look HTS up on the web! Now EU rules don't apply to Americans it is unclear what rules are applied to goods imported from the USA into the UK. Everything has changed, or might have, or will do.

The advantage of Brexit is it allows the UK to negotiate new trade deals free of EU Rules. A disadvantage is many new trade deals have to be agreed around the world, and that takes time.

Coincidentally we have the VAT change too. I have no idea how US exporters feel about collecting VAT on behalf of the British Government! I suspect big companies will do it but small and medium suppliers may disengage entirely, or wait for the dust to settle before exporting to the UK. Quite likely they will trade through an agent set up to sort out customs and tax issues, but I'm not sure if services of that kind are available yet.

… who does not sell on-line

It may, however, be worth contacting them for advice on UK availability.

Just now searched Amazon and found a Dykem aerosol layout fluid available for £24.99 + £3.91 delivery.

Having had my interest raised by this thread I was looking to get some but at that price I will carry on using a permanent Sharpie.

Yer – Dykem good but not that good! The aerosol would not be good for me – I use it inside on small things. I'm sure lots of us have had the misfortune of a Dykem spill or leak…. I imagine aerosol would be that experience with evey use. The amount in a small bottle lasts me longer than the Dykem stays blue.

I use a marker pen, and the airline to make it spray to where I want it to be.

                                          Washes off with alcohol too.
