Hi all, I have what I believe to be a CJ0618 lathe Or chester 920. The drive belt has snapped its a vbelt although very small only 4.5mm wide at its widest and approximately 675mm long. Looks to be made by Gates but I'm struggling to find a replacement. Anyone know the correct number or type or even a supplier?

      Thanks in advance

Take the remains along to your local bearing/power transmission place. (Erik's in the Midlands used to be known as Fenner). Most of these suppliers will be able to identify your belt.

            Thanks.

I've done a bit of searching and it looks like I need a 5M670 belt van anyone confirm this?

According to the Jet manual HERE it should be a VB-5M710 belt. One supplier here has them listed.

Worth searching on this forum as this has been discussed. Not all these lathes are exactly the same, and IIRC there were two different length belts depending on type of motor fitted. The Chester 920 which I had used a 5m710, but this was very tight on some speeds. A slightly longer one would have allowed the tensioner to work properly in all positions.

                  Thanks for the information everyone.

Having measured it again I think its 700mm long so a 5m700 could be the one.
