Hello to all.
I have this Indexer assembly, taking 5C collets, and with a neat dovetail base and leadscrew nut, but none of the rest of what this Indexer may once have been a part of. Does anyone recognize this item and have any idea what it was fitted to or what its task was?
It has a collar with 12 indexing slots into which the index pin slides.
These slots are numbered in a very strange manner – There is a grub screw in the collar which fixes the collar to the indexing hollow shaft. That grubscrew lines up with a slot in the indexing collar. Starting from that position, going clockwise, the numbers read – 6 -4&3 – 6 – 2 – 6&4 – 3 – 6 -4 -6 2&3 – 4&6 – grubscrew – and then start again.
The '4&3' numbers denote 2 numbers on one slot position, ie, 4&3 or 6&4, etc.
There is no number 1 or number 5…etc. Very strange…
It has a nice dovetail base with a fine thread brass/bronze leadscrew nut attached.

Joe
