Does anyone know how to get into Doncaster race course as it doesn't seem to be accessible from one side of the A18

Have a look at this thread about Doncaster parking, there is a crossing between carparks and racecoarse

Or if you don't want to read all that look at the show site

            Hi Eric

It's quite simple it a dual lane road you park on one side and walk to the other where the entrance to the halls are

            All of about 500 Yards

Presume you mean accessible parking Eric?

Here is the gap in the A18 from the road heading roughly east from the large roundabout, the parking for the disabled is in that area right in front of the brick clad building.

You have to go on to the next junction (not far) and come back on yourself.

I'll be there on Sunday – look for me at the MyTimeMedia stand

Oh no Neil, not the MTM word, never say it three times in a row or it'll be bad luck for a month!

So what machinations does the New World Order have for MTM? wink

On a related note, is the Doncaster show the same as the old Harrogate show, just moved south a bit?

According to the copper who gave e a ticket for it these gaps are not designed for turning right

Neil is correct in the safest way to do it, but if i remember correctly you turn right at the lights then u-turn in the car park entrance to turn left back onto the main road

I later appealed the ticket and it was cancelled as it's not illegal to turn right here, but you could cause an accident if the idiot behind you isn't watching.

                        Tony

PS if you want a disability parking space get there early they fill up fast

Neither of the traffic lights permit u-turns. The gap in the central reservation shown above is the only legal option when approaching from the A638 (old A1 pre 1960 ish) The gap is there for a reason

                            Hi Martin100

                            1) I said turn right into sandall beat road, then u turn in the car park not u turn on the road

                            2) Don't tell me tell the copper giving out the tickets

                            3) The gap is there for traffic turning right from the racecourse not turning off the main road into the racecourse (apparently).

                            4) by stopping on the carriageway to turn right you break the law as it's a freeway, if you turn right as I did without stopping you don't break the law (that's what the judge said at my appeal anyway….)

                            Tony

Any reason why online tickets are no longer available ? Seems a bit early to stop.

Did intend to go but not now. Just have to get used to being that little bit wealthier.

IIRC Last year the online tickets for Warwick were still on sale until much nearer time??

Having to go through two sets of lights and then make a turn into sandall beat road and then exit, back on to Leger Way, a junction with extremely bad visibility, and a conflict with bus garage traffic opposite is imho nuts.

For a right turn to be prohibited at the disabled car park entrance then there has to be a sign, there is no sign

The sign on the lampost just before the gap prohibits u-turns from either direction.

There is no mention of right turns being prohibited, and as the central reservation lines are clearly marked as broken then the gap can legally be used for a right turn (or for exit from the car park for a right turn) It is no different in law to the right turn into Sandall Beat Road.

For a clearway (not freeway) to exist then signage has to be displayed like this, large at the start of the restriction and all points leading on to it, and small repeats at a minimum of one mile intervals.

Or for an urban clearway like ths

The road at least further east, starting somewhere just beyond the location of Wickes was once a clearway, but that was a very long time ago, when it was a 60 limit with no traffic lights.

But a clearway does not prevent right turns across traffic, indeed there are two south/westbound right turns on Leger Way that have always existed and did so during the period clearway signage existed on that stretch of road.

But you have my sympathies, after all it is the wazzocks at south yorkshire police you will be dealing with.

I agree having done the same. I'm on table 40 but, there were three tables designated as 40, one was a trade stand, one was upstairs and mine was just near the main entrance.

I was worn out carrying a traction engine exhibit by the time I found the correct table, helped by the helpful staff. (I'm not being sarcastic, they really were)

Apart from the one on the bollard? It would put me off doing a right turn.

If the sign on the bollard is a no-entry sign it needs another to be legal. The position of the 'other' one would make it clear whether the no-entry applies to the parallel road or the car park. Unless the road is less than 16 feet wide (both sides, not just one carriageway) which it clearly isn't.

                                              Cheers, Tim

                                                Hi,

I tried to post this question last night but it hasn't appeared?

Anyway I asked how come the Doncaster show (and any other forth coming shows) don't appear under the events tab in the menu?

Ahh I thought there would be a simple answer, Thanks Neil.

Made it to the show today. Rdg and sister company Myford dominated the isles. Club stands were really good. Had a good natter with Kirklees model boat club who had a well presented stand. There was a 5" Brittania by the entrance which I drooled over for at least 1/4 hour.

Not too many road engines outside but it is Friday and I'm sure there will be more over the weekend. Disappointed that warco was not there as ( or did I miss it) I wanted to know things about my 18 size milling machine. Food was pretty good too for one of these events.

Good event but I am in no doubt that someone will rivet count the show. And for once I only spent a few quid- must be getting tight- I am from Yorkshire though 😳
