I paid for an online subscription for "Model Engineer Workshop" and when I go to read the latest issue it says I need to down load some new softwate from Microsoft to be able to access it. I downloaded the software and every time I try to open the magazine it asks me to download the new software again.

Why can't they just leave things alone? It was working great before……

      I hate online magazines!!!

Well….It only works with Internet Explorer….Does not work with Google Chrome……Idiots!

This is great!….8-12 seconds to turn the page….great improvement folks! BTW, Not the magazine itself but a concern named "Pocketmags" that does the online distribution……very poor performance.

              Hello Roy,

I assume you mean Silverlight? My understanding is that Google have decided to ditch support for Silverlight and quiteafew other things in Chrome v.42. I would blame Google rather than Microsoft or Pocketmags for that.

I have no influence over the choice of distributors, but Pocketmags distribute a huge range of titles like BBC Wildlife, Hello and Guitarist, presumably they are all affected along with Sky online etc.

For anyone not liking Pocketmags for any reason there is an alternative 'Magzter':

I don't know what technology their reader uses.

              Neil

Roy ; I think you may be a little harsh with your criticism. I, like you had an issue when I first joined on line, however, after emailing Pocketmags , the issue was promptly rectified .

I hope your issue is similarly overcome.

Here is Micro$oft's explanation, and workaround.

I must admit to a wry smile when they dare to class Silverlight as a "Netscape Plug In API"

Sorry for being so harsh. One of those days when computers tend to drive you crazy. It works fine on IE, but very slow to turn pages. I'll try the Google fix and see if that helps. Great magazine! Look forward to reading it when it comes.

There is always the viewer on this site, turns pages instantly for me.
