It has some battle-scars and is, I presume, inaccurately described … but this looks like it has potential : **LINK**

      Does anyone recognise it ?

Never seen one before, but I wonder if it's a tap tapering/sharpening attachment for a tool and cutter grinder.

The scars on the nose seem to be at regular angles, I wonder if the threaded bit is a gland for hydraulics to increment a rotation. The angles look to be preset at 30, 45 and 60 degrees, could it be for sharpening/making countersinks?

Strange how so many bits of metal clag are classed as "Lathe – Myford" and anything with a flywheel advertised as "Stuart Turner". At least now, not all turning tools are suitable for Myford .

              Regards Ian.

                Similar thoughts to Peak 4.

Same sort of set-up as the tool-holder in the Boremasters Tiplap – but surface mounted rather than on a round shaft. The 'trough'. which. I assume, would hold the tool, seems to be limited to one width only.

And how many advertisers profess to know nothing about their offerings!

This looks very similar to the work holder on a small valve refacing machine I once owned.

At one time any decent garage had one as valve grinding was a standard requirement at 50k miles ( and valve lapping at pretty much every service!)

I still have the diamond fixture used to true the grinding wheel and only hung on to this in the hope that one day someone will say they need one.

I think John Paton nailed it.
