I have a set of milling cutters & chuck for my Warco 250MV. purchased direct from Warco. as part of the lathe package

I cannot see similar cutters ( part cut out flange on the end opposite the cutting end) on any other web site & wonder if the Warco chuck etc that I bought is a Warco only item & I cannot buy cutters & collets elsewhere

Does any one know what sort of cutter they are – ie is there a special description for them & who sells them other than Warco

In the same vein the carbide inserts on the set of indexible tooling they sold me do not seem as good as an old indexible tool tips that I used with my last lathe. Are the tips interchangeable with other makes & if so can anyone tell me what code etc I should be looking for & if any other makes of tip will improve performance

      Any help much appreciated

There are a lot of cutter retention systems, some still in use, some obsolete and some we never see. Any chance of a photo?

If these collets are the same (with cut-out on the inner end) as Warco sell as separate sets they are Posilock , and usually take Clarkson type threaded cutters.

By "cutters" in first 2 paras do you mean collets.?

Also sold by Chronos, and no doubt others selling in the same price zone.

As Dave says a photo would help

I'm guessing one of these **LINK**

The inner end of the collet does look different to my Clarkson ones, but the actual milling cutters look to be the standard, Clarkson type, threaded end cutters.

Looking at the price Warco charge for extra collets, I'd suggest that it might even be cheaper to buy new from them, rather than second hand off ebay if one had a Clarkson Autolock.

I actually made a metric set myself, as the Autolock chuck for the Centec only came with imperial collets.

Yes those are Posilock style though there are a few copies so may not be the brand. They are not interchangeable with Clarkson and visa versa. spare collets are around on ebay new and cheaper. Used Posilock collets are rarer on ebay as they are newer and usually used by amateurs. so still in their sets.

Pozilock collets are not interchangeable with Clarkson collets because the Pozilock chuck is a copy of the Osborn Titanic II. I have 2 Pozilock chucks and 2 Titanic II, the collets are interchangeable. A point to be aware of is that Pozilock and Clarkson chucks only work with threaded milling cutters although Clarksons did make an adaptor for FC3 cutters

Exactly as Dave B. says. I have a Titanic II and copies of it are widely available.
