I have Just started roughing out a mounting pillar for my new QC tool post.

Do members go for a close clearance between QCTP body and the mounting pillar or a lot of clearance, believing that it is just the vertical claming force that matters.

If you don't have a good fit between pillar and the body you will be relying on friction to stop the body pushing away from the work when cutting. I know the tool will still be able to pivot about the pillar but I would still go for a good fit.

I was tending that way, good sliding fit but many of the ones I have seen on other peoples machines were verry sloppy.
