Greetings Derek, if you examine the old Model Engineer mags with the original articles, you will find that Martin Evans designed a parallel boiler version of this design, which would of course be correct for the earlier Fowler version of the locomotive. The Fowler parallel boiler design is to be found on page 561 of the 7th May 1959 edition of ME. Martin also produced a 5 inch gauge tapered boiler design a little later.
May I suggest that if you do go ahead with building the boiler, you use a single superheater boiler tube rather than 3 as originally designed, and use a full length of the firebox stainless radient superheater . This modification was also was drawn by Martin a little while later, but I would not bother with the thermic syphon shown on the same drawing. This advice was given to me by Martin himself when I discussed my build with him.
These designs make a fine locomotive, many examples are to be seen performing well, but I cannot remember a Fowler version, so you could have a first.
Regards
