I have a problem with EVRI..we as a couple have a fair few deliverys in a week and Evri seems to handle roughly half of them..the problem is that the courier (who seems a really nice chap) delivers REALLY late at night..last night it was 11.33….he puts the package in the bin so its not like hes disturbing us with a doorbell..but i dont like the idea of packages been left in a very accesable bin..he doesnt leave a card to say hes been as well.. So what can i do? how can i get my parcels delivered during the day time? i see the guy all day long local to us delivering to others but at home is allways 9pm onwards

Our Evri regular courier knows the combination to the lock on my shed; also recorded as my safe space with Royal Mail, Naked Wines, and others.
Do you have some sort of lockable secure storage space anywhere?

If you google “Evri delivery problems” there are a couple of options to try and resolve your problem.

Our next door neighbour routinely gets deliveries at between 3 and 4 in the morning. I see the courier take them round the back of the house and leave them somewhere “safe”.

I don’t worry too much about deliveries to ours being left at funny times and in insecure places. I’ve lost count of the number of times tracking says an item has been delivered when there’s neither hide nor hair of it at our end, but I’ve never not had a refund or a replacement yet when I’ve reported something being undelivered that says delivered.

Only two days ago an order of mine for £28 said delivered when it hadn’t been. I got a no quibble refund. How did I know it hadn’t been delivered? Because it was delivered two days later.

Just ordered some W20 collets from the USA via Ebay, sent via one of the international parcel carriers, Tracking was excellent and it arrived in the UK hub in seven days. Imagine my horror when I checked the tracking only to find my precious parcel had been transferred to Evri for it’s last stage in the UK. There now began a flurry of out for delivery texts and emails, and of course nothing came. The Evri tracking helpfully stated “in transit”, in fact still does. After 9 days of being in this country it eventually turned up, kindly delivered by a nice lady from up the road, ” this was delivered to us this morning, we live at number 18″ , we live at number 80!!! (clearly printed on the label). Not the first time I’ve had problems with this truly awful delivery company.

I saw a thing on Facebook the other day referring to an article about the difficulties of disposing of some forms of toxic waste, some wag wrote ” All they need to do is to post it to a normal house address using Evri and it will never be seen again”, made me smile anyway.

Little bit off topic but I needed to share a rant!

Yes Ian, EVRI deliveries can be a problem.  I found a package tucked behind a bin, 6 days after it was apparently delivered.  It was soaking wet, but luckily the contents were OK.  A delivery note would have been useful.  Presumably, EVRI don’t want their delivery drivers spending time writing out notifications.  The Post Office seem to be able do it (reasonably well), maybe EVRI should consider it?

I have 2 packages coming tonight with evri again the tracking says 6.30 to 8.30 but i doubt that they will land till 11.00 to midnight both from ebay and worth £400 plus so i dont want to leave them in a very publicly accesable bin so i’ll have to wake every once in a while to see if they have been delivered….

Couriers are on tight delivery schedules. Even Amazon don’t ring the bell or knock on the door sometimes, they just leave the parcel on the doorstep. I have CCTV coverage of the front door so I know if someone’s there. It happened this evening, parcel just left by the door.

We must be very lucky here, our Evri courier is a lovely lady who lives locally an always rings the bell and only delivers during normal working hours (if there is such a thing anymore).

Royal mail went through a phase of putting a note through the letter box saying they had tried to deliver but no one in, so have to collect from sorting office. This even when I was actually in and the doorbell hadn’t rung. Probably quicker than waiting for me to get to the door. To be fair it hasn’t happened for a while, that postman probably got moved on.

We waited for two deliveries from Evri yesterday, scheduled for between 16-00 and 18-00. They were delivered at 20-39 just dropped on the doorstep and run. My son will not buy from companies that use Evri he says they just seem to leave parcels anywhere.

I had two small packages delivered by Evri, I was in but they did not ring the bell or knock, just left at the front door, I have the photos of the “proof of delivery”. They would have easily gone through the letter box.

Royal Mail are not much better, see the blue package.

                          Proof of delivery 3

I suppose I was lucky to have them at the right house, my friend’s were delivered to another street completely, luckily the young couple brought them to her, she had no idea where the house in the “proof of delivery” photo was.

Not very good I’m afraid. will it get better? I doubt it.

Not putting small packets through the letter box really bugs me. They could stick them halfway in, photograph them and then push them through. Royal Mail do so sometimes.

Right next to the main door (on the side of our house) there is what used to be a refuse sack cupboard now no longer used for that purpose as we have wheelie bins.

If we are expecting a parcel we hang a clear sign on the door handle asking for deliveries to be placed in the cupboard just three inches away where they will be out of sight. None of them take the slightest bit of notice. If we are lucky we get a push on the doorbell and the package is dumped on the doorstep.

Very often the only indication we get of a delivery is when my Bluetooth hearing aids pick up an incoming confirmation email! Technology has its uses…

I don’t think it is really the fault of the operative, they are given punishing delivery schedules to meet their quotas. Many of them look as if English is not their first language anyway. TBH I feel a bit sorry for them.

According to radio 4, if a parcel goes missing it is the sellers problem, don’t let them deflect responsibility on to the courier.

Even if the courier has a photo of it on your doorstep and someone pinches it, it remains the sellers problem until it is in your hands or through your letterbox unless you have designated a safe place. If it gets pinched from your safe place that’s your problem, so I don’t designate one

Depends where you buy from but there are now options to have goods delivered to a local shop or automated locker, sometimes at a cheaper rate. Works best if the location is somewhere you go regularly anyway.

I cannot praise Evri enough. My deliveries are on time and usually very fast. Recently I have had 3 deliveries which arrived the next day. The two people who do my round are very fast and effective. They are also very pleasant and friendly.

YODEL are my bete noir. It can take 6 days sometimes more,  for a delivery to get through their system.  Their tracking system is a joke,  earlier this month I ordered an item from China and one from the UK. The package from China was delivered astonishingly quickly The UK order arrived two days later, thanks YODEL.
