        Bloody decorating

You should be putting a piston in the Vello.cheeky

        Steve.

That would be the preferred option Steve !……..

But at this rate, there will be no house jobs left to do once lockdown is over.

So nothing to keep me out of the workshop.

How are the milling projects progressing ?

An interesting article with diagrams re benefits of even a less effective mask. Also claims to show coughs can carry 2m but a sneeze can carry more than 6m.

            Thanks for that, pgk

I think the gist of it is that there are two different modes of’ ‘protection’

            • Personal protection of self from others
            • Protection of others from self

Rather like switching on car lights at dusk …

The thoughtful amongst us will try to avoid distributing our droplets.

Any thoughts on FFP1 masks as opposed to the recommended FFP2? I have a couple of the former in the workshop for dusty jobs.

I don't know where you live, but I have two members of my family who are Police officers and they are too busy with other things including dealing with morons who keep calling them on 999 for the most stupid things! They're not stopping people here!

Coincidentally, one of my nephews was stopped yesterday at 17:15 in Bristol and asked to explain himself. No problem, he's a key worker on his way home.

I don't think it's wise to generalise based on family experience. What police officers do is prioritised locally, and can vary considerably. Bristol has slightly more violent crime than anti-social behaviour while Manchester is distinctly the other way round – about twice as much ASB than violent crime. Another example, Wiltshire's Chief Constable used to be red-hot on speeding, while Avon & Somerset next door put more effort into other offences. Driving over an invisible county line greatly increased the chance of being caught, fined and prosecuted.

My Police Constable uncle had a rather different view of police work from his son, the Inspector. One thing they agreed on – Home Secretaries are mostly wrong!

A case of any mask is better than none. I sourced a couple of P3's before things got scarce (again preplanning) but I'd take a fair bet that the mask I used when i was building all the cupboards and fittings in my shed is so clogged with MDF dust that nowt would get through – perhaps not even enough air…
