Troglodyte, you'll have to get out of the cave every now and then.

          Look after yourself David.

Keep taking the tablets, perhaps you need to migrate to sunnier climes for winter.

            Hi All,

I've had a part built stuart 10v for about a year now.

I bought it from this forums for sale ads.

I thought I'll have a good look at this and then complete it.

All I have done is look at it!!!!! ……I'm not going to finish it.

It's currently listed in the for sale ads, includes all parts and the work done is to a high standard

Also included, drawings, the Andrew Smith book and a stuart catalogue. It needs a good home!!!!

            regards geoff

About 1/2 weeks wages after tax.

My first weeks wage was £3 – 10s – 6d, ( £3 – 521/2p in decimal ) Mill office boy, Dorman Long & Co, Sept.1963. … & £2 of that went back to mum for 'board & keep' … Ahhh the good old days… crying 2 thinking … probably a lot will disagree… dont know

No doubt this will start a raft of … 'my first wage was' …. wink

                  George.

Hi, in my fist job in '68, I was earning £3.00 and something p/w and after the first year it went up by a pound. Didn't get a third year as I moved on, but got a three fold rise to £12.00 and something p/w. In '73 was earning about £16.00 p/w and I was still classed as junior fitter.

                  Regards Nick.

Just building the 10h cylinder. And trying to figure out the two holes on the same face as the inlet threading. What are they for?

My 10H does not have two holes on the same face as the inlet threading.  Are they possibly an alternative for the threaded hole in case you prefer to use a flanged pipe, as they do with the manifold on the D10?

There is no inlet drilling on the 10 series cylinders the steam goes into the valve chest casting’s side.

You are probably looking at the exhaust which is best exiting  the bottom of the cylinder when it is horizontal on the 10H then the two other drillings are likely to be the drain holes which are also placed at the bottom  (side A below) when the cylinder is horizontal (not vertical as shown above)

Stuarts don’t show glands studs being screwed to any castings, they have a screw in flange that uses the single threaded holes shown on the drawings.Evenb then only needed on teh D10 and Score.

                        drillings

If the holes are smaller than 5/32×40 then you may be looking at the two screw holes for retaining the cylinder lagging, tapped 8BA on some drawings.
