I have bought a pulley to set up my Flexispeed lathe, but need a plain bush to sleeve it down from a 38mm bore to 16mm for the shaft. Can anyone suggest where I could get such a thing? I have looked, but can find nothing this size. I did buy a taperlock sleeve, but misunderstoodwhat they were for and it does not work.

Alternatively, for a price, would anyone be willing to turn one for me?

      Thank you.

      James.

            John,

It needs to be an inch long and secured with a grub screw or even loctite. It is not keyed.

            Regards,

            James.

              Double check that 38mm size.

              As 38.1 is 1.5" and 38 isn't a usual standard size.

                John,

I have checked and you are correct: it is 1.5". I should have guessed that it would be imperial, really, as the diameter of the pulley is cast intoit in inches.

                Regards,

                James.

And the shaft is likely to be 5/8" not 16mm.

                    Jason.
Yes – just double-checked and it is 5/8". I took it at face value that it was 16mm when I picked it up.

So: I now need a bush 1.5" OD, 5/8" ID and 1" long.

                    Regards,

                    James.

Very simple job if you had the pully in your hand. Just bring it round and I will do it over a cup of tea. I cant understand why nobody at the local model club has offered.

                        Old Al,

Thank you for the offer: I have had another similar offer and have taken that one up. The main reason why the local club has not offered to help is because I am not a member. To be honest, it hadnot even occured to me to join.

                        Regards,

                        James.
