I have just bought a Wakefield 1.25" lathe. I need a revolving tailstock centre but don't know what the taper is. The large end dia of the old chuck (worn) taper is .342" small end dia is .300 the taper is 1" long. Any ideas would be appreciated as I cannot find anything on the internet.

      Thanks in advance.

Those dimensions are similar to the tapers used on Flexispeed lathes, which is the small half of a No. 0 Morse taper. Sadly, I don't think you'll find anything commercially available. The parallel shank of a rotating centre for a C0 lathe from arceuro can be turned down to a fitting taper.

Cowells use that short No. 0 Morse taper in the tailstock so their rotating centre should fit but sit down before you see the price !

Thank you both for your responses. If I need a seat before I see the price I don't think I'll go there. Maybe turning one down is the answer as Rod said, but this lathe doesn't have a swivel saddle. cheers again..

If it is No.0 MT you 're looking for then Sherline sells a full range of items. Eyeballed with a digital caliper my dead centre was .362", .320" over .848". They have a nice little revolving tailstock centre as well as a range of gear that can be offset to fix a tailstock height error for work that demands it. The prices are fairly cheap considering they are made in America. Usual disclaimers.

If its like my tiny lathe it might be too long..
