Has anyone here used Mastercam before? I know it’s not hobby software, but you never know…

I am struggling with getting a grip on the drawing, having used parametric 3D for the last decade or so. The use of “levels” feels more like Acad, but I miss tools like construction lines. And I can’t seem to set simple color schemes for different levels or move things between them. I feel like I’m not getting the intended work flow right. I’m sure I’ll get it in the end but it sure wouldn’t help getting a fresh perspective.

I knew it was a long shot  🙂

I’m going through their online courses, and they seem to be pretty helpful so far. I just need some time adjusting to the manufacturing perspective. But it’s a cool gig (if I get it), machining syntactic foam in the biggest 5 axis mill I’ve ever seen, 3 x 1 x 1.5 meters.

I suppose the question is do you have to use their drawing part of the program? Could you still draw in what you are used to and then import a suitable file to do the CAM. I would imagine that is how a lot of users do it as they are likely to be machining parts that have been designed by others.

A long time ago I used Rhino and MasterCAM as my workflow. I never really got to grips with it tho, and it was one of the reasons I “parked” the CNC.
Fusion and YouTube (Esp NYCCNC) has made the workflow so much simpler

@Jason: The parts we’re machining have been designed elsewhere, the only thing we need to draw up ourselves is the stock and the occasional simple parts like plugs and holes and whatnot. The software is more than capable of such work, I just need to get used to it.
