I doubt if the aviation authorities would be worried at present. I live under the southern flight path to the States and there is very little air traffic. It is almost as quiet as when the volcano erupted in Iceland.

Not that model specifically, but a large range offering 500m-2km are easily available these days…

Would certainly have more practical secondary uses I agree as a product- although not sure how concerned those people are who are trying scare the birds off about the long term impact on retinal damage!

My little green laser pointer [which runs on a pair of AA cells] will pick out trees, and reflective road-signs, at about 1km on a clear dark night; so I was just curious about the items in the video.

The thread title was my main point though … A couple of years ago, we were seeing complaints from Airline Pilots, about being ‘blinded’ [dazzled?] by people playing with lasers: and now we have a council employee featured chasing the Starlings.

Role model for the local kids ?

I assumed you weren’t an imminent purchaser!

My understanding from talking to a private pilot/ATC operator a couple of years ago is that the media stories were suggesting laser pointers (for use in presentations) were being used against pilots, when actually the issue was individuals using these, which of course are available with dynamic stabilisation as well in case your hands aren’t steady enough to hold a 3km beam… a laser pointer such as yours is enough to distract the eye- I wouldn’t want one of these shon in mine.

…would be interested to know the longer term efficacy of these against birds as well…
