Hammer Free Morse Taper Tooling Removal

Hi
Not being happy with jarring loose the assortment of lock bolts on the morse taper tooling on my mill.
A better system was required so got down to making a puller to force them free and abandon the hammer in favour of a gentler and kinder on man and machine system.

Hope the photo's in my album "Morse Taper Removal" explain better.

If it needs more than a gentle tap, maybe you are tightening them too much?

Nice job, another version of captive self ejecting draw bar.. sounds like you could well be over tightening your drawbar if you have to 'jar ' it loose.

Hi

No brute force was used or excessive torque applied in tightening The lock-keeper bolts.

Insert the taper into the socket half to two thirds of the length of the taper and quick flick of the wrist to slap it home.

Then always used the method taught in the mid 20 th century to nip up lock bolts on morse tapers.

Thumb on the head of the spanner that is on the nut and gentle squeeze using the pinky and ring finger to nip up just firm.
