hi all i need some advice

has anyone fitted a coolant system to a Warco CY90 3 1/2" Bandsaw to get a longer life out of the blade.

i have found the band drive pulleys get very hot when cutting a lot of steel and they expand and i have had blades brake will the coolant help.

anyway back to the coolant has any one fitted one to the Warco CY90

        thanks kevin

          Hello Kevin,

I have a saw that at all resembles his saw. It's comercialized by Optimum and its ref. S is 91 G.
I have it for 4 years and then just after I bought it I tried to lubricate the blade but all that happened was the blade started to slip consistently off the pulley.
It also also happened to me that, at the beginning, some blades broke with unusual rapidity until I bought bimetallic blades.

          I hope that helps.

          Best regards
          Dias Costa

              Hi Kevin,
This is not quite an answer to your question but here is a design for a coolant system for a bandsaw that is in the file section of the "Yahoo 4×6 bandsaw" forum. You may have to join the forum to see the file.

              Les.

I made a cooling system for my 6×4 bandsaw, used soluble oil, but found that the blade did come off the free pully quite often, I was at the time using plain steel blades, and I think they lasted a little longer. If I refitted the system now, I would make a wiper to remove the cutting fluid before it gets to the pully. The car windscreen washer pump was ok for most work, but there were times when some good pressure would be better to get the chips out of a long cut. I use bi-metal blades now, so have not bothered with making things wet and messy. Ian S C

I don't use coolant on my little bandsaw but lubricate the blade with wax that I bought from a local blade manufacturer. Not sure whats in it but think it's bees wax.

Comes in a cardboard tube. Just run it on the blade before starting a cut. Makes cutting easier and the blade last longer. I use bi-metal blades and this one had done heaps of work, cutting up to 75mm dia steel bar..

I have some that looks and smells like a bar of soap, was purchased as saw blade lube.

I use neat cutting oil.The blade doesn't slip of the wheels when they are properly set up.

I use candle wax on rip saw and tenon saw blades.

I use WD 40 for aluminium, & for the small size MS bits I have cut it's either been dry or a dab of neat cutting oil
