I got my copy direct from MyHobbyStore, and there was no plan for a "Dill Grinding Machine" as stated in their description.

So I assumed it was one of Neill's pathetic jokes, like the Metrinch.

Anyway, I don't have any "Dills" to grind. A few axes maybe, but no Dills.

Basically I had not realised how the tiny font they used in the old days was. We couldn't get away with such small print these days and they also overlapped drawings and crammed them in

I noticed that in the war years issues. Rationing forced them to cram amazing amounts of type in, tiny margins and overlapping pictures

A 1945 volume is 9×6 inches (54in sq)

A 1938 volume is a lovely generous 11×8 (88in sq)

The war shrank the magazine to 60% of its original size, while packing in the same amount of content

I also bought the 25 year mag and there are no numbers on any of the pictures ,.is this a free puzzle?

I have enjoyed the mag ,but still trying to work out which number goes where.

As you may conclude I am not overly happy with the way the product was advertised (Misrepresentation comes to mind)

[On the cover it shows “Details and Plans for ten classic designs” INSIDE THIS ISSUE
Don’t get misled all that is inside is lists of plans available “at a purchase price” from the store – details of these plans can be obtained by visiting there online shop.

I was expecting copies of plans/and details to be included within the publication ]

I am expecting my review will be posted out of the magazine site – also possibly this post

Hi Neil – Yes I agree but how many of those are by myhobbystore .

The advert indicates that the store has ten classic designs and plans INSIDE THIS ISSUE (pics. of the plans are overlapping the “ inside this issue” block) which seems to refer to the said plans.

The 10 articles you refer to are by contributors in past magazines of which I have copies and have in fact made some of the items.

Still at having bought what turn out to be mainly copies of my collection

I was not expecting 10 new articles from contributors but was expecting as stated on the front cover under the separation line of Harold Hall’s article

“ myhobbystore inside this issue Full Details and Plans for Ten Classic Designs (which included thumprints of two hobby store plans) “

I thinks I have got it.

The actual printed mag that Homeuse has got which obviously is not subject to change as its the final print has on the cover a thumbnail of loco and IC engine plans. So I can understand where you may have got the idea that of those 10 free plans you were going to get more substantial plans than Neil has listed above. To have used thumbs of the actual plans included would have been a better option.

I too have every issue of MEW from No 1, so I could read all the articles by looking in my "magstore" if I wished.

However I thought it worth a look to see how they were presented nowadays, what had been selected as "the best of", and the comments from former editors.

The articles and plans were as I expected (plans included within the articles) so I was not disappointed.

And I was prompted to dig out my Dave Lammas 3-way toolpost and have a go with it after using the QCTP for so long.!

Living in the sticks I have not seen this magazine, but may be interested. I can't find the price anywere !
