I have been given this in a box of assorted bits from a friend, can anyone identify it please? I know it is an oscillating engine and this is all I have of it. Would anyone have a drawing so I can complete it? Would make a good little project I think

          Hi Sean,

I was given one identical to that one with all the parts for it, I haven't got around to making it yet. I have some plans for it I'll try and find them out for you

Looks rather like the Popular Single Cylinder Vertical to me… (parts/plans still from AJ Reeves if you need anything else…?)

Thanks for the replies. Bill, that should get me going, but will contact you if I get stuck as I am a relative newcomer.

This is my attempt at the Reeves popular engine. I acquired two sets of castings some 30+ years ago from the estate of a deceased model engineer. This is one of them, the other is in a small steam launch.

John, that is an interesting version – never seen one with the extension on the top cover before .

                        Looks good.

I wondered about that. I don't have the end covers so will have to turn from bar. Does the piston for fit up there? A photo of the other side would help if you can

I've no idea if the piston rod is guided by the extension on the cover! It may have been the "chucking boss" on the casting that I decided to machine in that way.

You were obviously being creative John.

I now have the plans so bad better start sorting out what I have, interrupted by the annual trip to Le Mans from Wednesday 😊😊
