As title, anyone know what this is? I thought it might be a carriage stop?

Is the split bore metric or imperial size? Has a slightly Mikron look about it.

Carriage stop looks the most likely purpose.

Could be part of taper turning attachment.

The head/wings of the T in the teenut look very skinny.

The width of the shaft of the teenut is also small.

Do we think it sits on both ways of the lathe? If so, the bed overall would be quite narrow.

If we assume the vee way is nearest the operator, the clamping boss is nearer the headstock. Whichever direction it sits, it means a flat way and vee-way bed

If there were a database of lathe way shapes and measurements, that would allow many to be ruled in or out (e.g. it would not fit a Myford as it has two flat ways; it would not fit a Colchester as it has two vee ways).

it might be the baseplate for a milling spindle or graver rest

Thanks for all the suggestions up to now guys. 👍

I’m starting to wonder if the t-nut is just wrong. Maybe it should have a plate that would fit to the bed in the same way as a fixed steady would?
