I have purchased a Boxford lathe and one of the parts that came with is this.

Please can somebody tell me where it goes or what it is.

Looks very much like part of the perspex chuck guard assembly. The bit that stops the hinged guard from going all the way back. I had one very similar on my raglan.
Round bar goes through the hole like a hinge pin.
