I have this Kim drill can anyone shed any light on to the make. The rise and fall gears hove worn and can't seem to find how it is fitted into the housing.

Any ideas please. It is a great drill and does everything that I ask of it except for not being able to use the crank handle to raise the table. I have taken out the toothed bar out so that I can manually raise it by releasing the clamp and physically raising it by wobbling it back and forth and lifting at the same time

Apart from finding out that it was made in Taiwan I haven't been abe to get any other info, sorry.

The basic design of the rack style table lifting mechanism on these Far Eastern import drills is pretty standard. The handle drives a worm which in turn drives a free running helical gear that also engages the rack. Grizzly tools parts book shows a pretty typical design here :- **LINK** . Everything mounted on the cover. Undo the screws and it should just pull out.

Thank you both for answering.

Clive unfortunately the access to the mechanism is not as simple as that, I think that I may have to strip the paint off in case it is hiding some form of holding device to release the gear inside.

I also could not find any information on the brand but it certainly is a heavy machine, as much as I would like to buy another press the more modern ones don't seem to have things like the quill travel

Hi,

The drill press looks very similar to the 'Rexon' one I have, also made in Taiwan.

There is a UK support arm for Rexon.
