My usual brand for drill bits is dormer but recently got a Guhring 14mm twist drill. Anyone here got an opinion either way on the quality of them? Couldn't find much on the internet except their website so I suppose they usually sell direct to industry.

A top brand. I have a fair bit of their tooling and it is quality stuff.

Yes, i'll second that. Guhring gear is top drawer . In the same drawer as Titex , Emuge Franken, and others.

I have a lot of their Drills both Hss and Carbide, as well as quite a few coated taps. Guhring are made for

            production so buy without fear.yes.

I don't have twist drills from Gühring, but I have milling cutters, they are good. So Gühring tools get a thumbs up from me.

Have a number of Guhring small drills myself; the quality is top notch, no wobble, straight as a die, sizes drilled within .001" not oversized, the only trouble is their price but if I can 'obtain', 'be given' any tooling by them I will grab it.

As all comments have said, top quality tooling.

Last set of Guhring drills I bought for work all needed grinding before they would cut. I got the Rep into work to show him and he took them away. He gave me a replacement set that where fine and allowed me to keep the first set to take home. I am still using them 3 years after retirement.

First class drills, used them for drilling thousands of 2mm holes in bolt heads for lock wires, sharpen up well and last forever.

It was listed as only used a few times and I think the seller must have reground it since it was last sharpened. For £8 it was cheaper than I could get a standard Dormer 14mm bit and only slightly more than a cheesegrade unbranded one.

I have some of their drills, taps and milling cutters; never had any complaints about them, even in tougher materials like 316 stainless steel.

Guhring milling cutters & drills available from MSC industrial supply co . often they have Guhring stuff on offer on their sales flyers they have online . Hertel drills & milling cutters are also pretty good too !

Guhring make a huge range of drills, some for specific materials. We use a lot of Guhring drills at my place of work and we have different ones for different materials. They are very well made tools and if you run them correctly get a lot of holes drilled per drill. They also drill very well to size also. Once re sharpened if they are not recoated, then I use the feeds/speeds for the uncoated drills.

Guhring also offers custom tooling for specific tasks as well, that most other companies do not offer to do.

Guhring are good drills if you can afford them. Used them for years for hardened steel airplane components.
