Gaskets and sealants in the smokebox area???

Hi folks …

I am slowly making progress with all of the fittings and pipes in the smoke-box area of my 3 1/2"g large boilered Tich. I am using coned fittings where appropriate but I can see that I will need some gaskets and/or thread sealant in other places in places.

I would like to think that I can take things apart in the future if needed so I am unsure if thread sealant can be taken apart without problems … so …. are gaskets a better option???

I know that it will get pretty hot in the smoke-box area due to the hot flue gasses …. but which gaskets will cope with this sort of heat … if any???

Any suggestions gratefully received

I've become a convert to this stuff – as far as I know it should be up to the job.

Just use silicone sealer,it’s heat resistant and easy to separate if required. Been using it for years no problems

I like Loctite 567. It seals well but is also easily disassembled. Rated to around 200 degrees C but I think it comfortably copes with more.
