I used to be a member of a Yahoo group, the Smart & Brown one. The groups were supposed to have been discontinued in 2019, but I still seem to see them about. Does anyone know what is happening with them?

A lot of the groups migrated to Groups.io site. Try looking at https://groups.io

I had quick look and found a group for Smart & Brown Model M.

            Hope this helps.

            Regards Luigi

Yahoo groups are now essentially just E-Mail contact lists. If you are signed up to receive individual e-mails or e-mail digests you will see a copy of anything posted to the group address. Nothing is stored so its sort of "FaceBook lite".

I'm unsure if new members can actually join as all the back end functions seem to have gone dead. Couple of weeks ago a query came up on the old Pratt & Whitney group but I couldn'y get a response sent via the group. Fortunately Yahoo includes personal E-Mail addresses in the header so i went direct.

Seriously kicking myself for not picking up the old Smart & Brown group and porting it over to Groups.io. But I'd just got out from under the Bridgeport Group which was successfully ported by anew management team and didn't want to start over.

As I understand it, the posts/threads, (while no longer supported or visible) made to those non-functioning fora were still received by those who had opted for a regular emailed digest. Not many updates and presumably getting less all the time. I had a few from one forum but none in probably nearly two months now. Groups.io (while perhaps not the best format ever) is far, far better than the yahoo forums.

As a Yahoo Group Owner I still receive email requests for membership made to the Group, some people just don't read the notice on the Subscribe to Group page informing them the group has been moved, it's not a problem as I just send them a stock advice note and link to the Join Page for the moved group.
Even as Yahoo Group Owner I am unable now to amend any information on the group pages, Yahoo fail to answer email requests for further details, nothing new there.

Thanks, everyone, I'll just give them a miss.

I read that there is a Smart & Brown appreciation group on Facebook.
