WM14 motor upgrade

If I upgrade the motor on my WM14 mill from 500W (0.6 hp) to 1 hp, will I have to change the control card.

The speed controllers fitted are either of American or Chinese origin and appear in two ratings, 6 Amp and 12 Amp.

It is likely that yours is the lower of the two values.

The current overload setting is adjustable but the value of the current sensing resistor may be different from the 500 W motor to the 750 W motor.

There is an adjustment process that requires a current meter to set the correct level of protection.

Just be careful when making adjustments as the board is 'Live'

If it's a Warco machine they 'usually' fit the KB board although a few Chinese boards have been know to slip in a production run.

The KB boards are all the same, power is sorted by changing a plug in resister [ which Warco sell ]

I believe there are three different resistors that are marked in Hp.
