Hi

I have just brought a second hand Warco 1224 gearhead lathe with no paper work I'm looking for a copy of the user guide and how to move it?

Have a look at grizzly.com manuals section. It is the world's reference library for chicom machines. Just find one that looks about the same and it will be 99% the same apart from the colour. Even if you did have the Warco manual the Grizzly one would be better and often have the wiring in color. (intentional Americanism)

Find the yahoo group "12×36 import lathes" (as in imported to the USA). It has several threads on moving these lathes including some good advice from me and some bad advice from people who think it is a good idea to tip them up and break off the handles or dangle them by the chuck.

When you come to try it it there are also a few threads on most forums that boil down to "check all those power safety interlocks, dummy".

Picked the lathe up Saturday I'm like a dog with two tails, still can't find the paper work for it though looks like buying it off Warco cant find it on any other site but i'm not to good at that.

The link does go to a manual and its pretty close to the GH 1224 but not exact

David don't waste your money at warco on the book it's next to useless I bought a new GH1224 a couple of years ago from them, the lathe its self is fine but forget about any descent documentation

I have made a couple of changes to mine to make it a little more usable like removing some of the casting on the tail stock so that the top slide doesn't hit it when working on supported work

Also added a set of "T" slots on the top slide so I can mount extra fixtures

1 problem I do have is because the Chinese can't measure I have to use 12mm tool bits and not the 16mm as the tool post has been machined to take 15mm??

this will be remedied by fitting a quick change tool post so I can set the correct height

I'm lucky there it came with a quick change tool post. Warco are sending me the book of words for the DRO I haven't a clue how that works but should be lots of fun learning, I'm sure there will be loads of questions in the coming months I asked about the adjustable feet for the lathe £140 but are they worth it???
