Sound interesting I would like to be added for the next one. I attend a few Zoom meetings and one which is hosted by the AWGB (The Association of Woodturners Of Great Britain) They have done workshop tours, and evenings where a subject is selected by the organizers to be a topic of the evenings meeting. For example work holding, colouring of work and so on. Not that you would want to use any of those but things like screw cutting etc. Suggestions can be from those that attend for future meetings

I am still working 3 days a week so I'd prefer to stick with evenings. I'm quite happy with 7.00 or 7.30pm.

          regards Martin

Me too – I am in school from about 7:00 and cannot get home before 5:00 so evenings are better during term time

Hope to retire some time during 2021 (I am 6 years past retiring age) so my availability should get better just as hopefully it becomes less necessary!

Good news we will be having the next one during the week after Christmas, Maybe Monday or Tuesday.

It will be hosted by St Albans MES using their ZOOM account so not time limitted.

It will feature a talk by Mike, STAMES chairman, although he doesn't know it yet unless he can come up with an excuse to duck out.

Now the big question – time. As a lot of us will have taken time off that week will a 9am morning one suit so that our antipodean friends can join in?
Please let us know if you will join from those countires with warmer weather. USA is not so good for early mornig so who is put out by that. We will also look at more with a pm rather than am slot as works out best.

The only hard date I have in next week's calendar, at present, is a grocery delivery between 9 and 10 on Tuesday morning. I will just have to leave the meeting for five or so minutes.

It will probably be snowing by then.

                      Hi all,

                      Sorry for the delay.

As mentioned above, thanks to a kind offer from Bazyle and St Albans MEWS we have the potential for a virtual meetup between Christmas and New Year.

Please share your thoughts on potential dates and times, as Bazyle asks is 9:00 any good for both UK and antipodean members?

I've heard from Bazyle and it looks very promising, he's even arranged a speaker to give a talk.

I have asked Bazyle to post the details, so I don't have an opportunity to muddle them up, but yes a morning slot in the hope some of our international members can join in.

We have a time and date if people are interested.

9am on Wednesday 6th January and will feature a talk by Mike Collins, Chairman of St ALbans MES

“Taking on a part built Stirling Single in 5” Gauge”

We can have about 15 minutes of general chit chat while people join then the talk starting at 9:15 for 45 minutes. After some question time we can break off into smaller groups if appropriate for more personalised chat.

Hopefully this time will enable some people from Australia (8pm) and places in the East like Singapore and Thailand to join in while the retired folk in the UK should have finished breakfast too. Slightly less convenient for workers (like me) but perhaps you can have it run in the background while if you are not on a Webex of Skype for Business call.

We will post the details the day before the call but do let us know on here if you are interested in attending to give Mike some ncouragement. Also suggest possible future talks and topics you would like in a breakout session afterwards.

It will be hosted by St Albans MES so will not be limitted to 40 minutes but we might call a halt after about 90 minutes as people need coffee breaks. You can of course join late, nip out and rejoin or whatever suits you.

In order to give the meeting some additional focus it will feature a talk by the Chairman of St Albans MES titled

“Taking on a part built Stirling Single in 5” Gauge”

The meeting will start with a general chat from 9am as people join with the talk starting at about 9:15, then 45minutes talk followed by question time and then perhaps some breakout rooms for more discussions.
Does anyone have topics they want a breakout room to concentrate on? From topics covered on here popular subjects are "Which machine", "How to xxx", ????
