Umpteenth mystery object

10 inches long, the knurled knob at the right hand end advances the bar by 1mm per revolution. It's been in my workshop for a number of years and I cannot now remember where it came from and I certainly do not know what it is.

Good call I think your right . The giveaway is the long black handle and the locating bolt is captive in a sliding slot on the rectangular bracket. Bloody horrible things to clean after use , they have dissapeared from many kitchens due to accidents when removing the blade .

The button oiler makes me think it may not be for the food industry. Just a thought.

I believe there is a silicon food grade lubricant on the market ?

I'm with Bo'sun on this – I can't imagine they'd expect such an amount of wear as to require an oiler on something that just adjusts the thickness of your streaky rashers.

I believe peanut oil is often used for food preparation machinery, hence the warnings on some products for those who suffer from allergic reactions to it.

As I understand it, silicon lubricants don't work too well in metal to metal applications. I think it lacks the boundary strength required to reduce metal to metal contact.
