This is what happens when you don’t know that someone’s left a Tupperware in the oven.  I think an oscillating multi-tool followed by a blowtorch may be the best bet.

Some folks would claim it as ‘Art’ 🙂

When I still lived at home I didn’t know that Mum had put a bread pudding in the (cold) oven to keep the flies off.  Neither did I know that it had a celluloid handled knife with it.  I turned the oven on to cook tea and after a while  there was a FFFFFffffffffff noise followed by a belch of smoke. It ruined both the knife and, what was worse, the bread pudding. And on top of that, I had to clean the oven. You won’t be surprised to know that since then I always check the oven before I turn it on.

When first married my wife found out the hard way that our wedding present Tupperware was not ovenproof.

Also with the passage of time, even hot water allowed the stresses from the injection moulding process  to relieve themselves, until the lids could no longer be clipped to the remaining dishes.

Cheap plastic boxes are even worse in this respect.

Howard, I still have tupperware from over 50 years ago.  Still going strong – even with a lot of microwaving and dishwashing.  Doubtless some pieces have gone in the rubbish over the years.  I now cherish those that are left and hope they will see me out.

I thought that all thermoplastics softened if the temperature is raised sufficiently – use silicone plastics (if one considers this group of chemicals as plastics) for higher temperatures!
